About The Classrooms

Our infant room is for ages 6wks to 8-9 months. You'll find that this classroom is completely carpeted for comfort and safety. This spacious classroom offers everything your baby will need to feel safe and at home while your away. We have lots of bright colored infant toys to help with learning and development. Tummy time mats, swings, jumpers and bouncy seats are available to encourage movement and active play. Two rocker gliders are in this room for those times when your baby needs extra cuddles or to be gently rocked to sleep. Our dedicated teachers are there to snuggle and love your baby as much as they need and to play and interact with them during their awake time.

Our teachers are here to encourage play when your babies are awake. They will help develop their language skills through story times, music and talking to your child while interacting with them. They will help develop their gross and fine motor skills by encouraging them to play with many of our manipulative, sensory and active play toys. Your baby will also be developing their social skills through the day by interacting with the other infants and our teachers. One on one time for infants is a priority at Brandy's Bunch and for each child's development so EVERY (even those over 6 months) infant will be held while drinking their bottle. At Brandy's Bunch we feel that this is an opportunity for infants to be coddled, talked/sang to and is important for bonding. All infants will be encouraged to try "tummy" time 2-3 times a day. This helps them build neck and arm muscles as well as strengthen their legs to prepare for crawling and scooting.

At Brandy's Bunch we realize that routine is an important part of any child's day but also realize that newborns and infants under 3 months do a lot of sleeping and eating. Infants 3 months and under will be allowed to follow their own schedule for sleeping and as their parents see fit. We will begin to put infants on a schedule around 4 months of age. Our Schedule for our infant room will be as follows....please note that we use the word "schedule" lightly:

Typically infants start solids at 6 months, however, at Brandy's Bunch we respect that you are the parent and this is your child so we are happy to start solids whenever you see fit. Each infant will go home with a daily sheet, letting parents know about their child's day.

This room is dedicated to children ages 8-9 months to 18 months. A child under 12 months of age but not younger than 10 months may be placed in this room if they started walking very early and need more interactive toys and kids to play with and keep them busy. The children will really get to explore their senses through more outdoor time, nature walks around the center, and sensory tables. They will start to learn to sit in a group and participate in more group activities throughout the day. This classroom has a quarterly curriculum that they will follow. It is not a preschool program but is age appropriate and specifically designed for children 12mos-36mos. The activities in the program help to develop fine and gross motor skills, as well as develop music, language, and art, cognitive, social and sensory experiences. While we love being able to follow a curriculum we also know the importance of learning you're your environment and your fellow students for this age group. So having time to explore the classroom and play with friends will also be an important part of their learning in this room. We will also begin to introduce the potty in this room.

We will also begin to introduce potty training in this room. We take a slow and fun approach to potty training. When a child first enters the room we will give them a few weeks to become comfortable with their teacher and their new friends. Then we will begin by setting them on the potty (child's size) during diaper changes with lots of praise and excitement for their big accomplishment. We will continue this until the child begins to actually go potty. Then we will start taking them more frequently and encourage them to tell us when they need to use the potty. Brandy, the director, has used this method for over 5 years in her in-home daycare and with her own 4 children. Using this simple method Brandy has successfully potty trained all children in her care between 18mos and 2 ½. Children must be potty trained to move into our Preschool Room.

Our Preschool Room is dedicated to children 3-4 ½ years old and our Pre-Kindergarten Room is dedicated to children 4-6yrs who are entering Kindergarten the following fall. The head teachers for both of these rooms have a Degree in Early Childhood Education or the equivelant of 3 years experience in a head teachers position. Our Preschool program builds school readiness skills and creates an enthusiasm for learning through social/emotional development, language/literacy, creative arts, science, math and physical development/health. In addition to our preschool program we teach a non-denominational Christian program. This program teaches 12 biblical stories a year and is integrated into our weekly preschool lessons.

Our preschool program has monthly and weekly themes. Children will have occasional "field trips" at our center depending on the theme and if we can arrange for someone to come in and talk with students. Students will have music, circle time and physical play time daily in addition to preschool. Every Friday is Show and Share Day where children will have a chance to bring a special toy or object from school to show and share with friends. On the last Friday of each month we will also have Pajama Day where children can where their pajamas and slippers to school and we will watch an age appropriate movie and play games most of the day. This is a fun day for kids and teachers and gives us a chance to relax a little and have a lot of FUN!
